One of my inspirations… Miguel Piñero was a Puerto Rican poet from New York City who wrote many influential poems and plays based on his life as a thief, hustler, convict, and drug addict. He helped found the Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe and mentored at-risk youth in writing. I strongly encourage you to read any of his work if you get the chance!
